BOARD OFADVISORS

Educators and engineers who advise our student board — without taking the organization out of students' hands.

SAIL is run entirely by high school students. Our advisors are the adults we go to when we need experience we have not had time to accumulate — and they are advisors rather than directors on purpose.

Our advisors

Margo Fisher-Bellman, SAIL board advisor

Education Advisor

Margo Fisher-Bellman

Librarian, Walnut Hills High School

A 25-year veteran teacher and National Board Certified ELA 7–12 librarian at Walnut Hills High School, where SAIL's founding chapter is based. In 2026 she was selected as one of eight educators nationally for the Pulitzer Center's Information & Artificial Intelligence Teacher Advisory Council, and led students in drafting an AI policy for their school rooted in transparency and ethical use. She advises SAIL on what actually works in a classroom — and what a district will approve.

How it works

What an advisor does at a student-run nonprofit

The near-peer model only works if students actually run the organization. Our advisory structure is built to keep it that way.

They advise, students decide

Advisors have no vote and no veto. The student board sets direction and owns every decision; advisors tell us when we are about to make an avoidable mistake.

Curriculum review

Before material reaches a classroom, someone who teaches for a living and someone who builds systems for a living have both read it.

Institutional doors

Schools and districts have processes a high schooler has no reason to know. Our advisors have navigated them before.

Continuity

Every student on our board graduates. Advisors carry context across those handovers, so each year does not start from zero.
